The Nature Play Playground at Brooklyn Bridge Pier 6 has five main areas:

  • Sandbox Village (the largest sandpit in New York City)
  • Water Lab.
  • Marsh Garden
  • Slide Mountain, and
  • Swing Valley. (Oh, playground planners – we love you!)

The sandpit has cute wooden houses, and a wooden train play equipment, making it the coolest playground in New York for toddlers.

There's a TWO STOREY twisty slide built into the hill, and jungle gyms too.

Pier 6 playground can be found at Atlantic Ave and Furman St, Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5 has two playgrounds for kids of all ages.

At Pier 5 Brooklyn, you can grab an icecream at Ample Hills Creamery waterfront stand.

Try before you buy as they offer a sampling of 10 flavors of ice cream.

There's also a variety of beverages, baked goods, and snacks at the food concession adjacent to the Pier 5 sports fields and Picnic Peninsula.

Brooklyn Bridge Pier 2 has a set of swings with the world's best view of the NYC skyline.

  • Admission is $6 during the week, and $9 on weekends.
  • Skate rental if required is $7 with skate mate rental at $6

Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1 has a playground for toddlers and preschoolers.

While you are here, Lizzmonade Brooklyn serves grab and go fresh, artisanal lemonades that are made to order.

No.1 – Fulton Ferry Landing

Between Pier 1 and Bridge is The Fulton Ferry Landing pier under the Brooklyn Bridge at the foot of Old Fulton Street is one of Brooklyn's most historic sites, marking the location of the first ferry service between Brooklyn and Manhattan in 1642.

It's the home of the original Brooklyn ice cream factory, Ample Hills Creamery.

This iconic ice cream shop can be found in the Fire Boat House (1 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201)

The original location, in a landmark fireboat house on the Fulton Ferry Pier, features one of most sweeping views in America.

No.2: Brooklyn Bridge Carousel

Take the kids on a ride of Jane's Carousel Brooklyn Bridge Park at Empire Fulton Ferry.

The Brooklyn Bridge Carousel is located in the DUMBO section of The Brooklyn Bridge Park, on the East River, between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

The Carousel is easily accessed from Park entrances at Dock Street or Main Street as you walk along the Brooklyn Bridge promenade.

It's open 11am to 7pm in the summer, and 11am to 6pm in the winter.

Tickets are just $2 per ride, and children under 3 are free with a paying adult.

No.3: Mainstreet Park Playground & Environmental Education Center

Main street playground is nautically-inspired playground.

There's a GIANT sailing ship, with lots of stairs to climb, and a boat-shaped sandpit for kids too.

Visit the Environmental Education Center at Main Street during after-school hours or anytime on weekends for fun hands-on activities for kids.

There's multiple interactive elements including:

  • an East River Aquarium
  • a Discovery Station with a 10' scale model of the park that offers an in-depth look at the park's ecology, history, and sustainable design.

No.4: Dumbo Cliffs at Brooklyn Bridge Park Brooklyn

The Dumbo Cliffs are the spot for rock climbing kids!

These climbing structures are one of the best Brooklyn Bridge park activities we've found.

At $10 for a whole day pass, including shoe hire, it's one of those locals-only experiences you can join in to make your NYC trip with kids even more fun.

DUMBO Boulders is located under the Manhattan Bridge in iconic Brooklyn Bridge Park on the DUMBO waterfront.

Take the F to York St. or the A/C to High St.

Visit SPARK by Brooklyn Children's Museum.

SPARK is a new "Build it, make it, touch it" art and play space located in Brooklyn Bridge Park at 1 John Street Dumbo.

Drop in play sessions are from 1pm daily. $15 per child. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Take the Subway – F to York Street, A/C to High Street or 2/3 at Clark Street.

John Street is north of the Manhattan Bridge at a dramatic bend in the East River.

No.6: Brooklyn Bridge Park Pebble Beach

On the Manhattan Bridge Pedestrian Path, Brooklyn (or the Brooklyn Bridge Park greenway as it's also called), you can find this pebble beach.

It's behind the Main St playground.

No.7: Brooklyn Bridge Park Soccer

Soccer fans catch watch a game of soccer on Pier 5 at the Pier 5 sports fields.

Locals of all ages play soccer during the Fall season.

  • Pier 2: 6am-11pm
  • Pier 5: 6am-11pm
  • Pier 6 Volleyball Courts: 6am-11pm

  • The remainder of the park is open 6am-1am

It's managed by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.
